Alternative Montreal Shopping Clothes and Fabrics

I’m taking a short vacation to Montreal in a bit and have searched the internet but found no real results, hopefully a local will know.

I’m trying to figure out which street is good for alternative/punk/rockabilly shopping. ie. not what you would find in your everyday mall. (all of the tourism montreal sites call a few streets “trendy” so I don’t know which street is *my* kind of trendy)

and if there are any fabric stores that sell modern-retro and alternative fabrics?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I would agree with the person that said Sherbrooke metro and go to St Laurent. I think St Laurent is probably your best bet. I also think Mont Royal metro is fun, but it is more boho hippy type stuff. There are also some goth stores around there (I know not really what you described, but they’re still fun to look in).

where can i get nightclub passes for montreal?

ok so for my 19th birthday me and my friends r going to montreal. We wanna know where we can get vip night club passes so we can go to like different clubs whenever and not have to wait in line etc. We’re planning this ourselves, no breakaway tours, no s-trips etc. I was wondering if the hotels maybe sell them (we’re staying at a marriott) if not can anyone tell me where to get it?

How much money will I need for a 5 day vacation from NY to Montreal?

I understand that hotels are expensive but approx. how much money will I need to go to about 3 decent restaurants, few clubs and bars, and a couple of tourist traps. I ‘ll be taking the Metro everywhere.

well to give you some examples. Here in Montreal. Most clubs drinks are about 10$ each (depending on how many drinks). Some have entrance fees as high as 15$ to 20$. It really depends what you mean by decent. for a meal at what I consider a decent restaurant could go up to as far as 35$. Or you could go to burger king or Subaway or even La belle Province for much less than half that price. You can get a weekly pass for the metro for about 20$ or bus ticket (which give you 6 tickets) for 11.50$ As far as the good old hotels can be anywhere from 50$ to 100$ a night some are even more. I like to go far ball and you’ll have money to comes home with. I’d say a good 2500$ to 5000$ Depends on how many drinks you wanna have food you want eat hotels you want to stay in. And you’ll probably have enough to bring some souvenirs home. This figure should give you enough money to even put a couple of hundred back into your bank account.

My thoery is it’s better to be save than sorry.
