Alternative Montreal Shopping Clothes and Fabrics

I’m taking a short vacation to Montreal in a bit and have searched the internet but found no real results, hopefully a local will know.

I’m trying to figure out which street is good for alternative/punk/rockabilly shopping. ie. not what you would find in your everyday mall. (all of the tourism montreal sites call a few streets “trendy” so I don’t know which street is *my* kind of trendy)

and if there are any fabric stores that sell modern-retro and alternative fabrics?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I would agree with the person that said Sherbrooke metro and go to St Laurent. I think St Laurent is probably your best bet. I also think Mont Royal metro is fun, but it is more boho hippy type stuff. There are also some goth stores around there (I know not really what you described, but they’re still fun to look in).
